Imagine a place where the "backyard chicken" is treated like a VIP. That is the Central Philippine University (CPU) Research Center for Philippine Native Chicken. While most big poultry farms focus on imported breeds that need fancy climate-controlled buildings and expensive chemicals to survive, this Research Center focuses on the "native," the hardy, flavorful chickens that have been part of the Filipino culture for generations.
Why does this Research Center exist?
Think of the Center as a training camp and laboratory for the local fowl. Our mission is to modernize the traditional way of raising chickens through science, enabling local farmers to increase profits without sacrificing the natural quality of the chickens.
What does the Center actually do?
Why should you care?
If you ever tasted a native chicken dish like Binakol or Tinu-om, you know why they matter. Native chickens are naturally leaner, tastier, and free of antibiotics. By turning this into a real industry, the CPU Research Center is making sure that:
Our food stays healthy, chemical-free, and rooted in our local culture
Local chickens don't disappear in favor of mass-produced commercial breeds.
Whether you're a student, a farmer, or someone who loves a good home-cooked meal, the CPU Research Center for Philippine Native Chicken is working to make sure the local chickens have a high-tech, sustainable future.
