The Research Center for Philippine Native Chicken was founded on December 23, 2011, with the commencement of the project "Development and Distribution of Supplemental Feeds for Free-Range Native Chicken of Western Visayas." This project was a collaborative effort between Central Philippine University and the Department of Science and Technology, with both parties contributing funds to the initiative. Dr. Teodoro C. Robles, former University President, helped to secure counterpart funds for the project through the CPU Board of Trustees Committee on Finance. The project aimed to develop and distribute supplemental feeds that could improve the health and productivity of free-range native chickens in Western Visayas. The establishment of the Research Center for Philippine Native Chicken marked a significant milestone in the study and development of technology packages for the commercial production of native chicken breeds in the Philippines. Since then, this Center has been able to develop many technology packages adopted by raisers in the Philippines and some parts of the globe with similar climatic conditions.

At the core of the CPU Research Center for Philippine Native Chicken lies a passionate and dedicated research team whose unwavering commitment drives continuous development and innovation. This team, comprised of experts in various fields, tirelessly explores new methodologies and techniques to enhance the quality and sustainability of Philippine native chicken breeds. Collaboration is key to the center's success, as it works closely with other colleges within the University. This interdisciplinary approach enriches the research and fosters a vibrant academic environment where ideas and resources are shared, leading to groundbreaking advancements in poultry science. Moreover, the partnerships established with graduating students from the CPU College of Agriculture play a significant role in the center's mission. These students bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm, contributing to ongoing research projects while gaining invaluable hands-on experience. Their involvement ensures a seamless transition of innovative ideas from academia to practical applications, ultimately benefiting the agricultural sector.

Together, the research team, collaborative efforts with various colleges, and partnerships with aspiring agricultural professionals form a robust foundation for the CPU Research Center for Philippine Native Chicken, propelling it toward a future of excellence in native chicken research and development. Here are the men and women behind this Center:
