bringing practical livelihood among pastors in the barangay

Central Philippine University initiated a livelihood program among Pastors in far-flung Barangays of Panay

Pastors in the remote barangays of Panay were the target of a livelihood program started by the Central Philippine University. On January 23, 2023, a group of pastors from Antique, led by Rev. Pastor Alvin Labrador, arrived at Philippine Native Chicken's corporate office to discuss a potential partnership in this area. Rev. Pastors Elizardo Malicia and Joshua Roy Torrecampo participated in the discussion and shared their experiences adopting technology packages from this research station. They continued by saying that raising local chickens in their respective locations increased their income as well as the income of their church members, who are engaged in everything from production to marketing.

The pastors in the barangay will benefit from the useful technology packages developed at Central Philippine University, says Dr. Teodoro C. Robles, University President. He further added that augmenting the household income of target clients means increasing their resilience in this challenging era. In connection with this, pastors in the Bingawan and Pototan circuits have already benefited from two previous projects that involved technology sharing and dispersals. From these experiences, those pastors who are diligent enough were able to augment their income and, at the same time, spread the technologies among their colleagues and churchgoers. (photo credit to Pastor Elizardo Malicia)
