The technical support focuses on production technologies that are practical and scientific in nature. It is supported by the initiative on NativeChikCian intended to answer the concerns for the processing and utilization of plan-based medication for flock health management. As the advancement of technologies is a continuous process, short-online courses are added to the list intended for raisers who want more advanced learning. An affiliation program is coined to further boost the capability of raisers, marketers, and processors who are connected with us.
Research Collaborations
With the decades of development here at CPU Research Station for Philippine Native Chicken, the state-of-the-art equipment and collaborations with other colleges within the University are established. The sack for the CPU Feeds is designed by the Packaging Engineering students. The CPU Feeds are developed from collaborations with the researchers from the West Visayas State University, Capiz State University, Aklan State University, and Iloilo State College of Fisheries. The facilities for in vivo tests, processing of supplemental feeds, stocking rate per square meter, and equipment automation in raising local chickens are established. Equipment for microbial, hemato-analysis, and parasitology is actively utilized to understand how the systems of native chicken respond to various plant-based medications. The machines for processing the phytomedicines are added, enabling laboratory-based commercial production. These undertakings are in partnership with Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, and Pharmacy. The researchers have now foreseen the continuous upscaling of the laboratory equipment and facilities to develop rapid test kits and vaccines for native chickens. It will collaborate with the Department of Agriculture and other interested institutions.
